My condolences on your son's illness. You probably should take the machine
to a skilled local computer tech then. Don't use a
BigComputerStore/GeekSquad type of place.
If you want to try and troubleshoot this yourself (requires a certain level
of computer skills):
1. Make sure the computer is virus/malware-free so you know you are working
from a clean base:
