Keeps showing installed files

I have Windows Me and I have installed it many times and never had this sort
of problem.
I have formatted my hard-drive and reinstalled WIN ME. Used Windows Update
for all the updates and it was sucessful, all but 4 updates. The folowing
updates were installed from the website, but when I restarted the computer
and got back to Windows Update, they are back there again, as though I never
installed them. The offending updates are:

MDAC 2.5 Update Q329414
DirectX 9.0c
WMP Script Commands Update KB828026
Microsoft Virtual Machine Security Update 816093

I then downloaded these items from the Windows Catalogue so that I could
install them manually onto my computer but to no avail. The following errors
were reported in the logs:


MDAC 2.5 Update Q329414

Dont know the error log for this, sorry.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am at a loss in trying to find a
solution.
