KERNEL32.dll error

When i try to run a game that I have installed on my computer an error
messege comes up and it says "Unable to load function : FT_THUNK
(KERNEL32.dll)"

The game is an older version but it has always worked on my Vista operating
system. I have scanned the file to check for any viruses and it seems to have
no problems but my game will not run with out that file. It is a system file,
I know, and by deleting it, not only could it mess something up, my game
won't run...is there anything I can do to fix it?
