Keybaord Hot Keys

Using VPC2007 on WinXP.
I have set up a DOS/Win3.1 virtual pc.
My question--
While running a dos program I find that its hotkeys are not available-e.g.
alt f3 would delete a text line. When this combination is pressed, it opens
a program on the host computer.

Is there a way to define hotkey settings within VPC or on XP so that I can
obtain expected behavior of the keys within a VPC session?

Which ALT key are you using? By default, the right-ALt is the hostkey
and doesn't function as an ALT key inside a VM.
Try using the left ALT key and see if that works. You can also change
the mapping for the hostkey to something other than the right-ALt.

I have been using left alt key-- my dos program makes use of a number of
"hotkeys". e.g. "alt {end}" works as expected but "alt {f3}" causes the
problem.

In keybard settings, "Right Alt" is set as the host key, and I have tried
changing the settings for "allow windows key combinations" , starting and
restarting the vm, but it makes no difference.

So I'm a big dummy....

I am using a Logitech keyboard that has "enhanced" function keys.
"F3" in enhanced mode was by default set to open an Excel workbook.

These "enhanced" keys can be turned on or off on the keybaord, or re-mapped.

Problem solved.

are you using US keyboard mapping? If not, that can cause weird
things to happen in some cases.
