Keyboard malfunctions while in games, certain its vista related

Ok, this is an odd one.

Im running Vista 32 bit premium, I have a Microsoft laser wireless 5000
set, its a keyboard and mouse. I have the discs for it. After playing a
game for a bit, any game really, examples include WoW, and Warhammer, as
well as Conan, a bunch of key inputs go wrong. Basicaly the tilda "`"
key stops working. Brackets and backslash stop working, and slash
becomes this weird e with an accent over it, like a french e almost.
This is not time related, it just starts at some point. I tried
reinstalling drivers, I tried the ones it came with, the updated ones on
ms's site, the generic ones with vista, everything, still does it. This
didnt happen on my other pc with xp, so i hooked it up to that one
again, it doesnt happen there now, so its not a hardware issue. Im out
of ideas. Everything points to a driver issue, but i tried various ones
for xp and vista on this computer, it does the same thing each time.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated. This is quite frustrating as
im having to restart games rather frequently. Oh, I should mention I
researched this extensively into the extreme slim chance every game is
having this issue, no one I was able to find had experienced something
similar and the forums are quite well trafficed.

I would start by checking to see if there are any newer drivers
available from Microsoft.

When do you sleep? You seem to be out here most of the 24 hours in a
day. How do people like you that go into retirement can't find anything
else to do but Usenet? Do you get out of the house?
