Keyboard Quote Keys

I have a problem with the single and double quote key (the key to the left
of Enter) in Virtual PC 2007. When I press this key it is like I pressed
the Tilde key (the key above Tab) instead. If I press a single quote, I get
a `. If I press shift-single quote (double quote) I get a ~. Pressing the
Tilde key does nothing. I really need to be able to use single and double
quotes in Virtual PC. All other keys in Virtual PC seem to work as
expected.

I use a Microsoft Wireless Natural Multimedia Keyboard. This keyboard works
as expected in the Host OS (Vista 32 Ultimate). The problem only occurs in
the Virtual PC Guest OS (XP Pro SP2). I can use the Alt codes to get single
and double quotes (Alt-039 and Alt-034), but this becomes very tedious.

I have the Virtual Machine Additions installed. I tried to install the
specific driver from the MS site for my keyboard, but it will not install
with an error indicating it is not compatible with Virtual PC.

Any ideas of how to get this working.

Thanks

I had the same problem as well. I tried a bunch of different key combinations suggested from a variety of threads but none worked. The combination that reset it back to "normal" for me was LEFT CTRL + LEFT SHIFT + (Single Quote / Double Quote) key.

Hope this helps!

What same problem? You started a NEW thread. If you want to continue an
existing thread then post to THAT old thread. If you want to start a new
thread, provide YOUR own context for the problem, not someone else's. Don't
hijack someone else's thread to discuss your separate problem.

Also, please inform Egghead that their gateway to Usenet (so they can
pretend they have a larger community) is screwed up. It composes as 1 long
line instead of physically wrapping lines at 76 characters, or less, per
line. Or abandon the defective webnews-for-dummies interface and use a
newsreader connected to an NNTP server to participate in Usenet.

Still confused. Don't know which key combo works (for you). Still using
Egghead's screwed up webnews-for-dummies gateway to Usenet.

I happen to use a proper Newsreader that contains the old messages as
well so I can confirm that the OP "replied" to an *existing* thread,
however I doubt very much the value of that since it was started Oct
10, 2007!!! More than 2 years old!

I am just wondering where he managed to get hold of it......
If he had used a newsreader he would have known tha the original
poster was probably not around any longer.
Jeezzzz

Some nntp servers - Giganews for instance - keep messages for a very long
time, especially text messages.

Yes, and this amongst others is a VERY BIG advantage of news (nntp)
over these wretched web based "Forums" where all overview is lost and
all navgational speed as well in favor of visual bling.
I don't get it....

I suspect the OP hadn't set the correct keyboard language setting in the
guest OS.
