Keyboard shortcut - anyone?

I need to change or create a keyboard shortcut for "minimize all
windows". I have a program that won't accept the "windows key" as assign
shortcut (win+M = minimizes all windows), so I need to either change the
win+M to something else (anything except with the win key), or find a
way to program a new keyboard shortcut. Bot ways will do the trick.

So does anyone know how to change or create a keyboard shortcut?

Pls see if 'How To Create Your Own WinKey Shortcuts In Vista'
(http://www.winvistaclub.com/t83.html) helps.

Hello Dudelidu,

You can use the "Show Desktop" shortcut to toggle the opened windows to
be minimized or not.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

The Windows key is used for system-wide keyboard shortcuts, that work
whatever program you are using. If you are assigning a keyboard shortcut
for use within an application, you should use (or have to use as you have
found out) one of the other enabling keys (or combination).

I usually use AltGr, as there is less chance of a clash with a shortcut that
already exists. AltGr (right Alt) is the same as pressing Ctrl + Alt
(left).

For making more complex shortcuts and macros, I use ShortKeys Lite. I use
pressing the key above TAB as the trigger, pressing it twice, as it is never
used for anything else. It works brilliantly. Like pressing ``d, gives me
the current timestamp, 10:53 02/08/2008.

I can't use the win key. That's the whole point. I need to assig
another key (NOT the win key) to minimize all windows

show desktop shortcut

Wow! A reply with very good potential! I installed the program bu
unfortunately I haven't been able to do exactly what I want. I'm able t
program the shortcuts to insert text (i.e. insert my name when clickin
##D, which I only did as a test), but I can't figure out how to (or eve
if the program is able to) program a shortcut to do a command. Like
explained, I need to make a shortcut that minimizes all windows (same a
the win+M does). Can this program do this? If yes, how

If no, any other programs or procedures in Vista that can allow me t
do so

Hmmn. I thought it would be able to do that, as it can type the WinKey in a
ShortKey, but having looked into it, it seems that it just types the key to
enable subsequent navigation of the Start Menu.

I have a Shortcut in my Start Menu all programs, tied to a keyboard
shortcut, that runs a .vbs file that changes a registry key to view hidden
files. I use this keyboard shortcut to toggle the visibility of hidden
files. I am not sure, but might be possible for you to do the same, if
VBScript allows control of the keyboard in that way.

Otherwise, there is another program that I know of like ShortKeys, that
/may/ be able to do what you want. I am not sure, as I have never tried it,
as I do not think it is free. There may be other macro programs that you
could search for as well.

I just did a quick Google search of the ActiveWords website, and it looks
like it can use the WinKey to do that with

<WINSTART>m</WINSTART>

It's just a pity that ActiveWords is not free, and the GUI looks a bit too
intrusive for my liking.

I've just looked at SwapKeys, from the same people that made ShortKeys, and
it can do what you want. It's not free, but it is cheap.
