Hi,

I seem to be encountering no end of problems with Windows Update, for some
reason a few weeks ago Vista started to fail during an update.

Going through a set of reinstall instructions regarding running the
regserver on the set of DLLs I found several of them did not even exist.

I am wanting to carry out a re-install of the Windows Update components to
hopefully get it working again... I cannot even seem to get the windows
update service started as it complains about being unable to find files.

Could anyone render assistance?

Hello Mark,

Try the System File Checker

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories and right-click
on the Command Prompt and choose "Run as administrator".
Type in: SFC /SCANNOW and press your Enter key.

If that does not work, try repairing your system. Boot from your Windows
Vista DVD, select the System Repair Option > on the setup screen, select
'Repair Computer > Select your installation of Windows > select Startup
Repair option and follow instructions.

Run SFC to see if any file from the OS has been delete or corrupt.

Good luck
