KLUDGE UPDATE

If I were being paid to figure out each new morass that Microsoft throws, a
monkey wrench to my skull, then perhaps I wouldn't mind the can of dead worms
that is Windows. Enabling Auto Update to use Windows Update and turning it
off afterwards, because I choose not to have it run in the background, is
just a minor inconvenience compared to this newest bit of voodoo, the
disappearing Windows Update and vicious circle of instructions to "fix"
another problem that Microsoft managed. That said, what the hell are you
people thinking? I'll continue to add Security update after Security update,
if I can, to fill the hole that is Windows, but please stop making it more
and more difficult to do so. Fix the new and improved, for you at any rate,
Windows Update so that it can be accessed by we poor fools that BOUGHT your
product. Stop relying on the customer to do the work. The day is coming, I
can see the light through a grimy ‘window’, when a new and elegant operating
system will rise from the ashes (in Europe or Asia or Oz) and put you, and
happily us, out of work.
