Label contacts by e-mail?

I am running WLM Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8050.1202) on Vista and I would
like to know whether it is possible to sort my contacts by e-mail (like in
the older WLM versions) instead of First & Last name etc.
I was unable to find a way to do this so I decided to post here either
asking for a solution or as a feature request.

I do apologize if this issue has already been mentioned.

This feature has been removed in the new version of Messenger. Do you use
the email view? May I ask why you prefer it to the Display name or
First/Last name views?

I had always used the email view primarily because it is easier for me to
identify the contacts on my contact list by their email rather than their
cryptic and often confusing display names. I've used it ever since I can
remember and was quite surprised to see it gone. Hovering over their display
name however displays their email address so I guess that I'll stick to using
that.

I have the same problem, is easier to find anybody by email because
sometimes your contacts change their name or nicknames but the email.
If someone know how to sort by email o fix it, a lot of people will
appreciate it.

Anyone knows the answer to this question?
I like to keep my contacts organized by e-mail because there is no they can
change it, as they do with Names or nicknames. I hate that they removed this
option from the latest messenger. Any patch or script would fix it?

Can I please ask why this feature has been removed? And if it will be coming
back anytime soon?

My reasons are the same as those already mentioned, it is alot easier for
people to view their contacts by email because an email address is
unchangable on a persons contact list which means it is easier to identify
people.

Also a question for you, why do you prefer to view your contacts by display
name or first/ last name?

Thank you

Ben

Same reason as everyone else.

This is so important that I would not have updated had I known.

I think I'm going to have to find another version or interface for it,
because right now it makes it unusable. Put the thing back the way it was
before you broke it.

I noticed this in the Beta and so rolled back to 8. I'll be sticking with 8
for as long as possible and then moving onto 3rd party software unless the
feature re-appears.

Such a shame because I liked WLM.
