I am considering buying a new PC which will be loaded with Vista Home
Premium. Trouble is I have a laptop connected to it over a wireless LAN.
Am I right in assuming the Vista will only run on the PC and that if I want
it on the laptop I am going to have to shell out for another copy??? I
suppose so................

At least we are making donations through the Bill and Melinda Gates
foundation to some good deserving charities!!!

If you want to run Vista on both the new desktop and the current laptop,
then yes you will need to buy a seperate copy for the laptop.

I guess this is why my two laptops with XP can't communicate with my new
desktop with Vista. Is this with all versions of Vista or just the basic
(Home) version?

I am Planning on Upgrading to Vista. So if i install it on My Desktop, it
won't allow me to install it on my Laptops, unless i buy another lisense?
And if i leave my laptop as XP it can't talk to my Desktop, surely that
can't be right. That is hardly progress if Vista can't talk to a different
operating system.

The blind leading the terminally stupid!

Yes, if you want it on your laptop you're going to have to buy another
license.

The ability of the computers to communicate is much less dependent on the OS
than on the Operator.

Sell your computer and go back to watching American Idol.

Aren't you lovely. I wasn't giving advice you fool, I was asking a
question. Real answers would be nice. Oh and what is American Idol about?
I've never watched it.

An XP machine should network with a vista machine no problem. TCP/IP is OS
independent. If I were you I'd start by checking your Firewall settings.
Sorry I can't offer more advice but I've hardly looked at the Vista
firewall, just turned it off seeing as I have a hardware one.
