When doing LAN file transfers between two computers on the same workgroup,
the speed decreases exponentially when Live Messenger is opened. It drop from
about 40MB/s down to 10MB/s on a gigabit network. Closing Live Messenger
restores it to 40MB/s so it clearly has something to do with WLM. I cannot
seem to find anything about this on the Internet though so I guess it's not a
common issue.
This also happens with older versions (8.5) of WLM as well.
If it matters, I'm running Vista x64 (transferring from Server 2003 R2 SP2
Enterprise). Vista box has Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E and the Server 2003
box has nForce Gigabit.
