Language Packs not installing

I am trying to get all of the language packs to install but I keep on running
into ones that will not. I get told to redown load them and try again. The
problem is that they are all ready downloaded it keeps on trying to install
the same download. What I want to try do to is make it so that Vista will
redown the packs and try again. How can I make it so that Vista will try and
download again?

Have you tried restarting the system between each installation? There might
be some configuration issues.

What version of vista are you using?
Only Ultimate and Enterprise will allow all language packs to be installed.
I think home and business will allow different dialects, associated with
what you use, you be installed.

Hi Neal

Make sure you have all the current Windows updates installed - there were
some updates to lpksetup.exe etc. See:

Then, install the MUI packs, one at a time. See:

Neal,

If the suggestion provided by Jane C does not work you can also try
going to the drive you have Vista installed on and clicking on Windows, then
Software Distribution and then DataStore. Delete all the files in DataStore,
hit the back button and then click on Download. Delete all the files in this
folder also. Reboot your system and try downloading and installing again.
Please keep in mind that once you delete these files you will lose your
past Installed Updates history in addition to the update history in View
Update History. You will not lose the installed updates, just the record of
them.
You can also go to Services and turn off the Windows Update service.
Once you have done this you can delete all temporary files, including the
ones for Windows Update. If you have Ccleaner you can remove any old value
strings, file extensions, etc, etc,etc from the registry. You must then go
back into services and restart the Windows Update service. You can also do
this with a Command Prompt but I find this way easier and quicker. Of course,
I'm not one of the old DOS experts so they may disagree. Once this is done,
try and download and install the Language Pack again.
If this does not solve your problem you can call Microsoft since it is
an Update issue. If you can't download and/or install the Language Packs
there is also the possibility that you may not be able to download any
security updates in the future, which means Microsoft will help you at no
charge. This is a toll free call and Microsoft will stay on the phone with
you until the problem is fixed. There are no limitations as to how old your
operating system is. I'm sorry I don't have the number for you. I had it
until today but now I cannot seem to find it. I'm sure someone else, possibly
one of the MVPs, will have the number for you. If Microsoft cannot help you I
would suggest you may have a hardware problem.
Please keep in mind that the Language Packs are quite large and will
take up enormous space on your hard drive. If you have tried to install these
Language Packs many, many times you may wish to delete all System Restore
points that occured prior to your last one, if you feel safe doing so.
