Language Upgrade for OEM

Hi!

I bought my computer in Germany and now want to change the language for
Portuguese. As far as I have understood MUI package is only available for XP
and windows in English, so it is not an option for me.
I own an OEM sytem and apparently need an "Anytime Upgrade" for ultimate
with the dvd, however my dealer has told me I actually need the WV Ultimate
Upgrade pack in German.
Has anyone tried anything similar or know if the anytime upgrade is enough
to change the language (considering my sytem is in German, not English)?

Tks,

Hi,

Your dealer is correct. Once you have Ultimate installed in German you can
download the language pack of your choice and change the interface language.
Details on the MUI and Vista: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925471 Unlike
XP, the base language does not have to be English to take advantage of this
Ultimate feature.

Yup, Windows Vista Ultimate supports all World Wide Interface Languages.
Once you have it installed, you simply go to Windows Update (explorer),
download a list of all the MUIs and select or choose all and download them,
then install through the Language and Regional Settings in Control Panel.

Tnks for the replys... However there is still a doubt: Why do I need the
complete upgrade pack in German (that costs 3 times more) instead of the
"anytime upgrade"?

Because you want to use more than one MUI and its a specific feature of the
Ultimate SKU and you want the OS in your default language. This is not
something you can just add to say Windows Vista Home Basic and you will be
good to go. You need to have the right version to make it work properly.
