Laptop will no longer go into sleep mode when I close the lid

I decided to run Windows media center yesterday just to see what
happened when it connects to an Xbox 360. I closed media center and then
closed the lid of my laptop. My laptop was fully charged when I left it
but when I came back it was completely blank, turns out it was still
consuming power when it should have been in sleep mode.

This has never happened before so I assume that this is related to
running media center and confirming my xbox as a device to communicate
to. Does anyone know how I can undo this and fix the problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

Check the control panel, and your current power scheme, there is a
setting for what you would like to happen when the lid is closed. I'm
guessing this is set to "Do nothing".
