Thanks for this, Chris.
No, I hadn’t recently restored the iPAQ, but as it happens, I have found the
root of the problem. I happened to notice a 3.3MB .wav file on the iPAQ
which was not intended to be there and was created AFTER the last successful
synch - the 'record' button must have got inadvertently pressed and made a
recording file. After I deleted that, did an iPAQ backup to the memory card
and then the soft re-boot that follows, everything worked fine.
Just for my future reference, if I had deleted the partnership and set up a
new one, would Activesync have recognised the iPAQ data from the last
successful synch and synchronised from there in the usual way, or would I
have had to start again as though there were no Outlook or 3rd party software
files/data on the iPAQ? That was what I was trying to avoid, because it
takes ages, and you’re never entirely sure whether you’ve lost any data.
