I downloaded the latest update and everything appeared to go ok; however,
when I went to restart my laptop to activate the new updates it keeps
rebooting and won't stop! Can't use Return to Last Known Good Configuration
or even go into Safe Mode (a list of drivers/windows files scroll down a
black screen). There is a blue screen that flashes (very briefly-can't read
it) when it tries to boot up. Has anyone had this problem or know of anyway
to fix it without wiping out my hard drive?
(Computer less than a year old-not many programs/files on it-never had any
problems before.)

updates.
now the computer continueously reboots. F8 commands cause reboot.

so which hotfix caused the problem.

I can't help but notice that no one has answered your posts. Did anyone ever
post any viable solution to the problem?

Yes I have same problem, did you get a solution. Microsoft should address
this issue. I used to update regularly, then once updates caused system
failures I stopped updating. Come on Microsoft, sort this out?

I have the very same problem, I'm using Windows XP Pro/ 5.1.2600 Service
Pack 2 v.2093 Build 2600.

After Installing all the updates and rebooting my computer just continues to
reboot over and over again just before it gets to the LOG IN Screen. I dont
get to see any errors considering the boot process flies by at a very rapid
pace for me. I have just repaired my installion for the umpteenth time and
havent downloaded the updates because I know the rebooting syndrome will only
happen again. Could this perhaps be a hardware

Issue? Anyone?...........Anyone?........Beuller?.......Be uller?

Does Microsoft ever plan to address this issue?

Hi guys - After months of NOT having windows update enabled after the last
time my laptop crashed, I enabled it and downloaded the latest updates and
immediately got the same problem as you've been describing. Has anyone come
across a solution?? - Maybe Microsoft has sorted it and maybe they can help.
Thanks, Fireblade

I thought someone might now how to stop the machine from rebooting so that I
can read the blue error screen. This has happened with a computer. I tried
reinstalling XP but the install reboots when it reaches a certain point.
Plans are to clean install XP on a new hard disk and then try to salvage the
registry information and programs off the old one.
