Hi just wondered if anyone knows what the problem is if my computer tells me
i have updates to install when i go to turn it off when i then come back to
turn it on the next day it either takes forever to turn on or won't turn on
at all.

This always happens after updates but not at any other time sometimes it
eventually starts up but today the only way it completely froze and the only
way i could sort it out was to take the battery out in then came up with a
message to say it hadn't be shut down properly the last time so somewhere
along the line its obviously turning on but it never reachers the welcome
screen on my desktop

I have windows vista if anyone can tell me what the problem is i would be
very greatful!!

What happens (what is shown, etc) if you do updates manually?
What does your update history show in Windows Vista (success/failure/etc?)

Not sure how to manually update in Windows Vista?
Not sure how to view your update history in Windows Vista?

Try the built-in help system and the keywords given to you (or plain
english) and/or Google:

Search using Google!

(How-to: http://www.google.com/intl/en/help/basics.html )

Are you running Vista or Vista SP1 now? (just a question!)

Is the machine still under warranty or service contract?
