Laptops sound issues........Vista???????

I have Googled a problem with my new Toshiba laptop with Vista Home
Premium...
I have double checked the sound settings and volume controls on the
hardware and software as well as downloading the newest driver for the
onboard sound card.
I have found MANY complaints saying it's a Vista issue not the
manufacturer.
I realize these latops have 1" speakers but I don't want to have to
hook up external speakers to be able to hear ANYTHING which is what I
have been doing. I even had a "young" friend with excellent hearing
test it out and it is to the point of having to put my ear on the
speaker to hear it !!! Either speaker!! I find it difficult to
believe that it's a loose wire since there are SO many of these
complaints online.
Many laptop makers are pointing at Vista and I'm sure MS will say that
it's the manufacturers' problem.....

Is there any truth or cure to any of this??????????

I have to agree with the poor sound quality from Vista, I find running a
"avi" movie file under Vista I have to put my headphones on to hear the
sound. Running the same file under XP on a near duplicate laptop gives me
excellent sound.
Why do alot of the people who anwser these queries think the writer is
stupid??? Give them some credit, alot of people do read the manuals.

Vista is crap.. and vista sound is crap, the way vista handles sound and the
mixer is crap, vista sound compatibility with older applications is crap,
the way it hides the devices is crap, even the windows start sound is crap
since you cant change it...

OK I have said 1000 times that vista is crap... everything about vista is
total crap

for once I tried to not focus on vista crap and I get a lecture about
morality!!!

I use 5 different modes of Toshiba's and have no problem with the sound.

Carl's mother gave him sour MS Milk when he was young and he has never
gotten over it.

Ouch, damn that hurts Carl. You sure don't win people over to your side with
all that hate.

Just out of curiousity though, what bits of the audio makes it worse than
another? I'm running integrated "HD" audio, analog 5.1 source and it sounds
pretty good (My Audigy 2 was retired to my XP box due to the driver issues
creative is having). Ran a couple "benchmarks" and it didn't seem to kill my
CPU too much.

I'd honestly like to know the arguement as to why it's so bad, but if it's
"because Vista sucks" save your farts for someone else.

WTF??? I do not want to win people in here... If I wanted to be popular I
would say how great vista is all the time!
I want to expose vista for the crap it is! Vistanoids dont like that....

Now for your question... MS pulled a quick one on the musical industry by
changing how windows handles sound.
Many of the programs that are made to compose music either dont work at all,
or have a horrible performance...

Thats why EVERYONE in this field is avoiding vista like the plauge.

Vista HIDES various devices from the user ...

MS did this in hope to make MUSIC copying harder from outside sources or
sound playing from the actual computer... of course it can be changed..

but you have no idea how much frustration this has caused people....

The way vista handles sound is hiddeous, the mixer is disfunctional.. and
the startup sound is hardwired into a frikin DLL!!!

MS says this is a BRAND thing... they want to promote a brand by using a
friken unchangable sound?

Also most drivers included WITH vista have a horrible performance! People
try to play dvds or videos and the sound lags or the video skips!


I have not found one thing good about vista... it is total crap and MS
should take it back, fix it, and re-release it to the world when its ready.
