Yup, exactly right. BITS = Background Intelligent Transfer Service. It's a
Microsoft thang, usually used for Windows Update, but other services or
programs could use it to move data around the place in the background.
Works in the same way over dialup as it does for LAN users, it waits till
the line is idle and then grabs chunks of data a bit at a time until its got
the whole thing. If you start using your net connection, it'll go to sleep
until the line is idle again and then continue on from where it got up to.
When BITS has finally got all the chunks it needs to make a whole file,
it'll assemble them and pass them back to the calling program/service,
Windows Update in this case. Windows Update will then ask if you'd like to
install SP2. Could take a while though over a dialup!
