last security updates

my windows xp home edition automaticly updated with new security downloads.
Now each time I boot up I get
GENERAL HOST PROCESS FOR WIN32 SERVICES ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO
CLOSE.......

Anyone have any idea what this is and how to stop it from coming up. I
think these last up dates also slowed the computer some and causes windows
exployer to do some strange things.
