I heard several people have/had trouble with the last updates.
I used windows update v5 and downloaded 7 of the 7 updates last night
(manually).
The machine is running Windows XP Pro SP2.
I have not had any problems yet.

Can anyone give me details to what problems they are having and what your
computer setup is, and how you downloaded the updates.

Yes, I have had a problem since allowing the 7 updates install automatically.
I have windows xp home. Here is the problem and it is with IE 6. I have all
the updates and since doing the automatic update the update page opens first
when I open up IE. My home page has not been changed and if I click the home
button it goes to my home page. I have tried everthing I know to stop the
problem - like clicking on look for updates -- it goes through its routine
lets me know there isn't any but still continue to load at opening up of IE.
Any help would be appreciated - I am using Firefox for now till I can get
this fixed.

Try the following, get to the IE properties, right click on IE on the
desktop and click properties(This assumes that the IE shortcut is not on
desktop, but the Actual IE Program Icon) or open IE click tools-->internet
options. Once you are there click on the last tab called (advanced). In
there make sure the Automatically check for Internet Explorer updates is
unckecked. Also make sure you are clicking the IE icon on the desktop or in
the startup menu. If you click on the Microsoft Update icon, or the Windows
Update Icon it will go to that site automatically. See if any of these
help.

I have automatic updates set up. All installed OK last night except for
KB896358. I had error messages this morning. I manually downloaded the file
again and still could not install. It initializes, and about half way through
it stops and says it can't complete the install, with no further error
messages. I'm running XPPro SP 2 with virtually all the updates installed as
they come out.

Not sure what it is, could be software problems. Have now update 20 of my
machines without a problem the last 80 will be updated tomorrow.

I've had major problems on the last update, so much so that I had to reformat
and re-install XP.
I've since discovered the culprit clash was caused by Adobe PDF reader;
after uninstalling the reader everything seems to work fine.

hmmmm
I'm running Windows Update 5.4.2600.0
I had it set to automatically download and install.
When I shut down my computer for the night it said it would complete the
task and shutdown ... but next morning it was still stuck. The dialog said
"initializing" and nothing was shown complete in the "complete bar" at the
bottom of the dialog box.
I have tried everything I can think of innumerable times, and it still just
hangs when its initializing. The only way I can close down my computer when
its hangs is to hold the start button down until it shuts itself down.

Does anyone know how to delete the 7 files it downloaded ? None have yet
been installed. Maybe then I can get it to start fresh.

Interestingly, I too have Adobe Acrobat Pro 7.0
