Of late - Vista is taking a tediously long time to log-off users

I'm inclined to attribute this to the recently installed SP1 - but before i
uninstall it, is there any known issues/fixes?

It's waiting for some app to finish writing to registry or close or saving
user data - check in the Event Viewer. Enable User Profile Service (former
UPHClean).

Phillips and Snooks are right. SP1 isn't the culprit in this case.

Regarding SP1 issues, go to the website of your computer manufacturer and
see if there are any issues with SP1 and your model. Example: Sony Vaio had a
couple of software updates to fix SP1 issues that were peculiar to their
models.
