Latest automatic update stalls on 4 of 6

My dual core XP SP2 machine with automatic updates started the automatic
install after a reboot this morning to get back on the web. It has stalled
on update 4 of 6 and gives me a message not to turn off or disconnect. It's
been running 50 minutes and I'm hostage. What to do?

push power button for five seconds. reboot, run windows normally, and the
update may try to reinstall. if it works that time, great, if not, hide the
update in advanced options on dialoge box. I am having a simmilar problem
with kb360030 junk filter update, and hiding it has improved my sanity quite
a bit.

Thanks, JB. That worked. It was Genuine Advantage that was the glitch.
