Help Please
The latest bundle of eight security patches will not install.

1. MS Office Word 2003, KB943983
2. MS Office, KB945185
3. MS Office Outlook, KB947944
4. MS Works Suite 2005, KB943973
5. MS Office Outlook 2003, KB945432
6. MS Publisher 2003, KB946254
7. MS Office 2003, KB947355
8. MS Office Exel 2003, KB943985

I'm running WXP-Pro, SP2 with MS Office 2003

I have also tried it by removing my anti-virus/spyware, only using MS Firewall
And it still will not install.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks Willie

Any particular error messages?

Have you used a registry cleaner lately, known to cause problems with Office
updates?

I am having the same problem and have used CCleaner. Is that one that has
problems? If so do you have some solutions? Thanks for your help.

have a look at Peter Foldes Advice:-

Use the following fix below. Please post back with result

1st Rename Office subkeys

Note: Removing the following registry keys may reset customized user
settings for your Microsoft Office programs.

1. Close all the applications.
2. Click on Start->Run, type in REGEDIT and click on OK.
3. Locate and select the following registry subkeys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0

4. Right click on 11.0 and rename them to Old11.
5. Close the Registry Editor.

2nd. Detect and Repair Office 2003

1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start, point to and click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
3. Click Change/Remove Programs on the left pane.
4. Highlight Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 on the right pane
and click
Change.
5. Insert the correct version of CD when it requires.
6. Select "Reinstall and Repair" and click Next.
7. Select "Detect and Repair errors in my Office installation".
8. Click Install and wait the process to end.

3rd. Install the Updates

Windows updates are more trouble then they are worth. The best thing to do
is stop your updates from screwing up your system in the first place by
denying them from being downloaded and installed. I have not seen one post
where someone had any trouble from not having them installed. This whole
thing is one big joke and not worth the BS in the first place. I am going
back to ignoring these updates. I have never had so much trouble then there
is now. A whole group for "troubles with updates"........What a laugh.

Jonathan, not everyone has problems with Windows/Microsoft updates.

If you wish *not* to keep up to date, that's your choice after considering
the pros and the cons.

Others have chosen to rectify the problems they are encountering and keep up
to date. That's there choice.

Thanks for the quick reply.
The repair sounds rather extreme just for these updates.
I'll let you know if it works.
Thanks Again

Give it long enough and experience will show that they are not worth the
trouble. It would be nice if Microsoft would pull their heads out long
enough to get at least one OS running right. Especially with their own
updates. Way to many more have been unable to rectify the latest problems as
can be seen at Google. Many have a life and don't have the time for all this
BS, Microsoft can see fit to make it very difficult but offer no solution so
now you are left in the lurch and on your own looking endlessly for a fix
for something Microsoft broke in the first place.

Hi There.
1. Finally got around to trying to fix this problem.
2. I followed the instructions as posted.
3. Everything went as expected BUT
4. After the "Detect and Repair" window, I got an error message
Error 1311
Source File Not Found
C\MSOCache\All Users\..................\Cab
Verify That The File exists and That You Can Access it.
"Retry" or "Cancel"
5. I could not proceed any farther.
6. I tried to Remove the program, but it would not let me, it kept trying to
install it.

HOWEVER
I did see in my "Change or Remove Programs" window two diferent MS Office
programs installed.
7. So I removed to older one.
8. Then the Updates installed.
So problem ultimately corrected
Thanks for the tips and lead that led to the fix
Thanks Again
Willie
