Latest SP2 update

My wife note book up dated and they ask to restart and we did and now it will
not start up ???

Although one could assume you mean Windows Vista SP2, it would be an
assumption.

Please provide us with the exact "Service Pack 2" you are speaking of,
amongst other details specific to you and your situation.

Seriously?

Why Windows XP Service Pack 2 when Windows XP Service Pack 3 was released
over a year ago now?

Or - now are you sure it is "Windows XP SP2" you are being offered and not a
service pack 2 for a different product (like Microsoft Office?)

Verify what version of Windows XP you have and let everyone here know...

Start button --> RUN --> type in:
winver
--> Click OK.

The picture at the top of the window that opens will give you the general
(Operating System name) while the line starting with the word "version" will
give you the rest of the story. Post both in response to this message
verbatim. ;-)

After that - copy the description of the service pack 2 you are attempting
to install verbatim here as well.
