A number of our users have just had the latest window update installed
automatically. As a result of this, HTML pages in IE with Inkedit controls
are taking an excessive time to load, with CPU utilisation at 100% for up to
twenty minutes. This appears to be similar to other reports of COM problems,
and I have advised users to remove the update for now. This resolves the
problem. Does anyone have a work around?

Many thanks

Review the following:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/912812

Internet Explorer ActiveX compatibility patch for Mshtml.dll
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917425/

Carey,

Many thanks for that. I will need to test out the patch, because the
behaviour described is different to what we have experienced. It seeems more
like a reported problem with a Siebel 7 ActiveX as the whole application does
run - just very, very slowly. There seems to be a couple of issues with this
update and we may be running in to more than one at a time.

The irony is that we have only just allowed the reps to update automatically
from the beginning of April because the updates recently seem to be more
relyable than a couple of years ago. We have to tread a fine line between
problems caused by updates and those caused by viruses and other undesirable
software.

Kind regards

Mike
