Neil,
Thanks for the feedback. For most the upgrade is a simple process and
upgrades all installed WLE applications to QFE2 Level
https://liveunplugged.wordpress.com/...rsion-numbers/
- Upgrade notification, click it to install, the installer grabs the bits
for only those WLE applications installated, updates and completes, prompts
for a restart if necessary....done.
On the other hand since the update ability was recently enabled on the Live
servers there have been a few reported errors with a variety of
possibilities (3rd party AV/Firewalls, connection problem causing a
corrupted installer, installing over a wifi connection causing a timeout,
users previously installing the initial release over the public beta bits,
aborting the process since it doesn't inform one what is being updated
e.g.paranoia that something new will be installed, etc.
Finally some folks running WLE initial release or QFE1 have yet to see the
update prompt while others having been made aware of it are ignoring it
and downloading/installing using the bits available on the Live servers
(where one can obtain both full and web installer versions)
- This article (mine) contains links for all full and web installer and all
are direct links to the Microsoft servers (no third party hosted sites)
http://liveunplugged.wordpress.com/2...ive-downloads/
WLE QFE2 is currently termed as optional. Past history (since prior
versions have been deprecated to retain functionality)...its highly likely
that at some point in time QFE2 or a later version will become mandatory.
Glad to hear it was smooth for you. Thanks again.

Hi Winston!
Link worked just fine, thanks!
I thought I remembered reading something recently about an upcoming update,
but I couldn't find it in any of my folders.
No wonder, it wasn't an email - it was a website!
Anyway, as I said before, it was a very smooth operation. I got a popup
asking permission, I said sure, and it just kinda took care of itself.
If anyone reading is considering the update, it worked great here on Win7
64!

If the link breaks you'll have to cut and paste it back an enter it in your
browser address bar.
Optionally, one can subscribe to the RSS feed.

Hi folks,
After a prompt in my notification area (Win7 64) I allowed an Update to
Windows Live Essentials.
Among the other components, my Windows Live Mail 2011 was updated from
15.4.3508.1109 to 15.4.3538.0513.
All went smoothly after a required reboot, but I'm curious - what exactly
was updated?
My 'new' WLM looks and feels the same, but I'm sure there were changes
made.
Does anyone have any details, or could you please point me to a place to
check?
Thanks in advance!
