latest update XP pro will not start

On only one computer since the latest updates it will not get beyond windows
is starting message, this (message box) comes on as normal but then goes to
blue screen and does no more. Tried safe mode and get similar, sfae mode
black screen is displayed with "safe mode" in each corner but nothing else

And the white letters on the blue screen are looking like?
IOW: What's the text and error message on the Blue Screen?

> Freudi, There were no letters or text on the blue screen it just sat there. However I managed to run CHKDSK on it from an installation disk, which found and cleared a problem. When I got in there I found it had not updated anyway so am now thinking it was unlikely the updates process caused problem. Have since cleaned up this particular work station and installed all updates without a problem. Thanks anyway

Then it hasen't been a Blue Screen (BSOD).
