Latest Updates Killing my Laptop

The latest slew of six upgrades are causing my laptop to be totally
unresponsive and force it to boot in about 5 minutes time. It used to boot
up in about 20 seconds thanks to some msconfig tweaks and reduction of
services on startup. I am only able to get my machine back to working order
by removing all six updates and then disabling the automatic updates service.

However, even after these steps, my browser launch is very slow and degrades
over time. What was in these latest updates that could be causing these
problems?

I'm running a Dell laptop with Duo Core processor and 2GB of RAM.

Yes, someone please answer Jimmy, because I have the same frustrating
problem. I have only had this laptop for about 4 months. It ran beautifully
until some Windows updates practically destroyed it. This thing is barely
useable now. I tried system restore a couple of times, restoring to the
original condition. That worked great until Windows updates messed it up
again. Yesterday I decided to restore to original state once again, figuring
I would turn off Windows updates. The problem with that, though, is now my
system restore points only go back about 3 weeks (probably when I installed
McAfee), so I can't. HELP! I'm about ready to buy a new laptop and start over!
