I installed the latest driver updates (2 driver updates for August) and
began having problems with our HP 4200 printers.

On one printer, the users simply weren't able to print anymore. I
noticed a changed a setting in general tab, printing preferences,
"Destination tab, destination features, job storage settings were
changed to "proof and hold" !

Note - trying to open general tab, printing preferences one of these
4200's resulted in an error "Function address 0x78010479 caused a
protection fault. (exception code 0xc0000005) Some or all of the proprty
page(s) may not be displayed. And sure enought that was as far as I
could go.

This is unique to the 4200 printers.

Also, the details section when you do windows update will not display
any detail info about the driver updates. Just a 404 error.

It's seldom a wise idea to install drivers recommended by Windows Update,
Scott. Check manufacturers' websites for such updates.

I have a user that is having the exact same problem after updating the HP
driver. Is there a way to remove this update from her PC?

Thanks.

I think you could just "uninstall" the HP printer and then reinstall it.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, but it didn't make a difference
(it is a network printer). I also checked in Add/Remove Programs, but I
didn't see the update listed there.

I had the same problem but with all my HP2300n printers. Did you solve the
problem?

Has anyone been able to figure this out yet? While I can print to my HP4200,
everytime I try to print to another printer (File, Print, ...), I get an
exception error and the application crashes. I've downloaded the most recent
HP4200 driver from HP and installed it with no success. When I remove the
HP4200 printer, everything works. So how do I get rid of whatever the
Microsoft update did? There's no uninstall.

And *your* Windows version would be...?

The "latest Windows Updates" would be...?

What does HP Support have to say about this?

Windows 2000/SP4. All critical/security updates installed. HP says this is
a "Windows" problem.
