Latest Windows Update (Jan 12) Prevents Me From Restarting

I just installed the latest Windows Update after it was automatically
downlaoded for me (January 12).

Now, my computer will only restart or shut-down manually, not through the
Start Menu, and Apple iTunes no longer runs. iTunes shows up in the Processes
in Windows Task Manager, but does not display, and will not shut down when
you select it and click "End Task."

What can I do to fix this?

justin,one thing I have learned you can not have any sound while shutting
down,thats from my past experience.you might try checking your sound in your
control panel and put none on windows exit.and try again.hope this helps?
