lcd monitor picked up as a crt !

hi i have bought a wide screen lcd monitor, vista wont let me set it to a lcd
and so i cant use wide screen , i have been in the control panel, tried
changing the graphic drivers and almost anything i can think of ,,
am i missing something real easy or what ? please help this is driving me
crazy

(control panel and nvidia control panel both say i have only a crt connected
)

Have you installed the drivers that came with the monitor?

The .inf file for the LCD monitor (that which enables the computer to see
what the inbuilt parameters of the monitor actually are) must come from the
LCD manufacturer. Check their web site for this information and download the
correct file.

sounds great, but emprex dont do drivers - they say they arnt needed! so i
guess im stuck . thanks for trying though

try going to Device manager..monitor......and uninstall the monitor
shown....then reboot and see what Vista detects

tried that ,, even tried altering the inf file and manually putting in the
resolution seting, still no joy ,,

Are you saying that there are no 16:9 ( or 16:10 ) resolutions offered
under 'Change display resolution ' ?

What are the actual monitor type options shown in the Display Settings -
Monitor tab drop down ?

Are there any 16:9 / 16:10 modes shown in Advanced Settings - Adapter
tab - List All Modes ?

What is the native resolution of your new monitor ?

How is the monitor connected?

DVI or RGB?

Some, not all, LCD monitors, when connected using the RGB connector aren't
able to support all resolutions, and sometimes even their native resolution.

Try setting the monitor (under Properties) to the Generic plug & play
monitor, un-check the option to only show resolutions the monitor supports
and see if the resolution you want becomes available as an option.

I mean, is it connected with DVI or VGA?
