I deleted an executable file, O2kSp3.exe, thinking it was part of something
i'd ended up never using. It wasn't; my computer's colors have gotten so
messed up i can't use ArcSoft PhotoImpression (which was XXXX to begin with)
any more. I restored the file from the Recycle Bin, and when i double-click
it, i get a window saying, "Do you want to install this update?" However,
when i click Yes, i get a message saying, "The expected version of this could
not be found on your computer." When i go to Microsoft Updates and follow the
prompts i get a window saying something like "The website is having a problem
and can't display what you're looking for" and "Error Number OxC800042D."

It might work, no guarantees. Try SR as "Madman" suggests

If system restore doesnt do the trick I would next uninstall ArcSoft
PhotoImpression from add/remove in control panel. You may have an option to
save any created images during the removal but I would back up any
photos/pictures manually to disk first to be safe and check that you can
access them from that disk.

Then re-install ArcSoft PhotoImpression. I'm assuming that during install
it will replace the color profiles necessary to its function.

Thank you. Can you tell me where to find System Restore? I typed it into
Search (called Find on some systems), and it said there were no results to
display.

Hi there,

Boot in safe mode ( F5 during bootup) Click start choose programs >
accessoiries > system Tools> system restore choose a fat marked date before
the problem occured.

Best regards,
Michel Denie

Sounds like good advice, cusper. Unfortunately, i didn't
even know i was supposed to be backing up my system,
so there's nothing for the Restore Wizard to use. I don't
know about Windows XP, but my Windows 2000 has the
option of importing a file to the Wizard. I tried to import
the file i've restored from the Recycle Bin, but i got a
message that the file is unusable. Something else that's
happening is that none of my bookmarks work. Thanks.
