Is there a way to leave a "SENT" message on my IP's server? I know how to
save received messages.

No. At least not with a pop3 server.

cc yourself & sort them into a different folder at your webmail account.

Well...there is an exception (of sorts not necessarily for a third party isp) but at least for Hotmail type accounts (Hotmail,
Live, Msn.com).
- If a Hotmail type account is configured in any email client to use the Pop3/Smtp Live.com settings then the Hotmail webUI will
retain a copy of every single message sent from the respective Hotmail type account in that Hotmail account's web UI Sent folder.
- Likewise, if Msn.com is the isp (premium or dialup) with that account or any sub-account (9 are available) then any of those
accounts when configured in a local email client to use the pop3/smtp settings will also 'save' a copy of the sent message in that
account's Hotmail web UI folder.

Thanks to everyone for the quick responses. My email is POP3, but not
Hotmail. so I guess that I'm out of luck. Not a big deal. I can live without
it.
Thanks again.

Richard,
You're properties indicate use of WLM 2009's latest (and last) version.
You still have the option to save a copy of sent messages locally in your email client
- WLM menu/Tools/Options/Send/<Save a copy of sent messages in the 'Sent Items' folder>

Additionally, once saved WLM 09 does provide the ability to selectively export a single folder (including the Sent Items folder for
each configured email account).
- Export requires a blank folder on the destination media (hard drive, external drive, usb thumb drive etc). The export engine
will create a Sent Items folder (in the blank folder). Exported messages will stored as individual *.eml files (viewable in WLM, a
text editor, or other capable email client).
- Optionally, one can just drag and drop items (one or more) from the Sent Items folder to a folder in Windows Explorer.

Winston,

Thanks for the info. As usual you always are extremely helpful in these
groups.

I do use WLM 2009 because I can't live with the "no quoting" in 2011. WLM
2009 serves me quite well and I'm basically a "if it's not broken, don't fix
it" type.

I do have WLM configured to save a copy of my sent messages in the sent
folder for each of my 2 email accounts.

I recently had to reformat my C:\ drive and reinstall Windows 7 and all of
my software. In preparing for that, I used the export/import function as you
posted in "How to Backup Windows Live Mail Accounts, Contacts and Messages"
posted 03/15/2008. Also, from one of your posts, I also found the latest
(last) version of WLM 2009. As usual, your expertise was very helpful and
saved a lot of "pain".

Whenever I find help articles in the various newsgroups that I subscribe to
that are important, clear and helpful. I print a copy and file them for
future use. Your 2 articles, mentioned above, are in that file.

Thanks again!

Did you try the method of cc (or bcc) yourself?
Or do you just not like it.
I know it's worked for me when I've used it for special reasons.

BJ,

Thanks for your interest.

Like you, I have tried the "CC" method in the past. However, I normally have
no need to do it.

In the case that caused my original post, I "dumbly" tried to email a 21+MB
attachment. The attachment was 5 pages of graphics save in pdf format.
Because of its size, the email system "chocked" and WLM delivered a size
transmission error message. Even with the error, the email showed in my WLM
sent folder. With the transmission error, I would have expected it to
"stuck" in the outbox folder. Consequently, I was unsure if the recipient
receive the email or not. That's when I decided to check my webmail and
found that webmail doesn't keep copies of WLM sent mail. (I do have webmail
retain a copy of my incoming mail for 14 days). Because I was in direct
contact with the recipient, I quickly found out that the questionable email
was not received. To solve the problem, I exported the 5 pages of graphics
into 5 medium quality jpeg files and successfully sent them in 2 emails.
That serve my purposes well enough, but it wasn't as neat and clean because
the recipient than had to look at 5 different files instead of 1 file with 5
pages.

Since the only time I use webmail is when travelling, I don't care if it
retains copies of WLM sent mail since WLM does. If I use webmail during my
travels, I can sync up with WLM upon my return home.

Thanks for you interest,

When dealing with files of that size (including pdf files) a Hotmail account can come in handy (even for temporary use) since it
provides a 25 GB SkyDrive that provides the ability to upload a file up to 100 MB.

Once uploaded a private link (for the recipient) can be obtained. The link can be sent via any email account (your isp account in
WLM) allowing only the recipient(s) to access and download the file. Once received, the user (sender) can then delete the
uploaded file (or even retain it for archival purposes).

Likewise other services are available for uploading files and/or bypassing the file size limit restriction place on email accounts
by a users isp.

And...thank you so much for the vote of confidence on my blog articles. I've a backlog of drafts that I need to get to, but first
I've been updating existing articles for better clarity, content (words and links) and applicability. Much appreciated!
