left shift key driving me crazy

|I'm having this problem with my left shift key. |It makes these
|||||||||||||| every time |I hit it. |If |I hold it down |I get this
|||||||||||||||||||. |I have a brand new Gateway with Vista home
premium. I tried updating the driver but it is up to date. |I
uninstalled it and reinstalled to no avail. Any help would be

Try another keyboard. Your keyboard is probably faulty.

I had a similar problem with my old Sony VAIO laptop, where I would press W
and other, seemingly random, letters would appear as well. It was only a
certain, small set of other letters that would appear, but they were not
ones that were close to the W key.

I fixed it by taking the keyboard out, and spraying compressed air through
the thin side edges, through a straw attachment. It must have been some
sort of debris shorting out a contact.

I tried a different keyboard and the problem is gone. wow, brand new
keyboard with a screwed up key. I wonder if Gateway or Best Buy will
replace it? J

Don't ask, TELL them they will replace it

Heh...I have the same problem. I was coming to this forum to post a question
about it when I found your post. I'll be calling Best Buy today.

I called Gateway and they sent me a new keyboard in a few days. Now
that's great customer service. This keyboard is like butter. I love
it. J
