Lefy mouse botton?

Hi everyone, about a week or 10 days ago, my left mouse botton stop working
with my icons on the desktop, but it will work with things that I start up
using the start botton.
Is there anything I can check for or do to get this function back.

It's seems weird that the behavior would be selective like that. A couple of
questions:

With items on the desktop, does the right button now act as you would expect
the left mouse button to? -or does it still act like a right-click?

If you go into Control Panel, and re-assert the mouse button settings, does
that restore the function to what you expect?

Can you try another mouse or go back to the generic Windows mouse driver (if
you use a specialized one)?

Now I did it: I said a couple of questions and I posed three (maybe four)!
