Hi Mhorvat,

NO. This site is not owned by Microsoft.

Thanks,

Greetings,

There hasn't been much need for list rebuilders in the last year or so, although in the past
they were rather useful.

I'm curious why you think you need to use it?

After the forced upgrade to 8.1 I have not been able to add contacts. They
could add me and see me but I could not see them.

I then tried going to 8.5 and nothing changed.

I also tried all the other suggestions I could find - deleting "Contacts"
etc as well as changing the registry entries.

Nothing worked.

Then I went back to 7.0 and set it to Windows 2000 compatibility and it
would not allow to add contacts because "contact list is full" although
Messenger 7.0 itself listed under 200 contacts.

Something somewhere is picking up contacts and I don't know where. It could
have to do with previous attempt to install Windows Live Mail Desktop (when
it was called that). It was not successful - just hung in the middle but I am
afraid to uninstall it or to install Windows Live Mail because after that
episode all of my mail in Outlook Express got screwed up and it took me days
to get it going again.

Also, when I tried to move from OE to Windows Live Mail a few weeks back on
my laptop, it could not handle import of large number of folders / messages
and when importing folders individually, one out of 10 was blank with no
messages imported.

My OE backup is about 2 Gb in size and it is really not an option to delete
any or most of the messages.

thanks

MH

Hi Mhorvat,

Can you install 8.1 and then do the following. Go to Tools -> Options ->
Privacy tab

there you can see the people in your allow and your blocked list. See if the
contacts that you added are in your allow list.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
AA - MSFT

report the post to MS

IMO nobody would dare to use MSFT because someone would have notice the post
and reported it to MS
