Problem: I have dual boot with WinXP and Vista Ultimate.

in WinXP, my dual display consisting of two widescreen lcd's
( one connected to the mother board port and the other connected
to an nvidia card) work perfectly.

however, i cannot get dual display to work on the same machine
in Vista, though the knowledge base claims it should and emphasizes
the utilization of device drivers designated as WDDM and XDDM.

Solution:

1) Open Device Manager and for each of the display adaptors right click,

2) select "driver update driver software"

3) Then select "browse computer",

4) "let me pick from a list",

5) uncheck "compatible hardware",

6) then select the non certified microsoft versions and without the XDDM
or WDDM designations.

7) close and

8) repeat the above for the secondary display adaptor.

9) then reboot.

10) after logging into Vista right click on desktop, select "personalize",
then "display settings" to fine tune both monitors for extended desktop
functionality.

11) enjoy!

I enjoyed because you finally - FINALLY - figured out how to post
something that has a line wrap greater than 35 characters!
