"Mark Conrad"-man or mouse? Will he take up the speed dictation test or is
he yellow?
Oops! I accidentally posted the same post twice. Sorry about that. :-(
The link below did not come out properly in the last post so I have posted
it here again. This shows you the normal way of how to calculate a typist's
speed using words per minute. The same like for like test would apply for a
dictation speed test.

This is exactly what they say and how it should be prepared and undertaken.
It's quite easy to follow really. Surely, even you can take this in with a
step-by-step guide.
Step 1: Prepare the text you will type. Take the text from a book or
magazine. Do not use a text that you are familiar with or you will not have
accurate results.
Step 2: Set the egg timer for one minute. As soon as you set it, you are
ready to type.
Step 3: Type the text until the egg timer sounds. At this time, you will
count the words or use "Tools" in Word to find the count.
Step 4: Proofread the text and count up your mistakes. Take the total
amount of words typed and subtract the mistakes for your total word count
per minute.
I also made a slight mistake with this statement in my last post. I stated
that the word count in Microsoft Office Word 2007 was in the bottom right
hand corner when in fact it is in the bottom left hand corner. I have
corrected it below.
If you do your dictating in Word, there is even a word count in the bottom
left-hand corner so it does it all for you. That is the word count and that
is the number you should be telling us less the word mistakes you made!
Just take your typing or dictation speed test by clicking on this link and
then click on 'start typing test' you just click 'Start Typing Test' and you
just type or dictate their test document for one minute including all
punctuation and spaces.
You don't even have to time yourself because they do it all for you and at
the end of the minute you don't even have to count the words or the errors
because they do that all for you too.
Okay Mark. Do you feel lucky? Well do yah? Punk! THEN come back and tell
me how many words per minute you can dictate and how many errors there were
using this test. This test could not make it any simpler for you to test
your speed!
