letter "s" acts as if ctrl+alt were also pushed

Several times in the last two months my Vista Business 64-bit system has
gotten into a weird state in which typing the letter "s" on the keyboard
would launch the (factory loaded) "HP support information" window
instead of giving me a letter "s" in whatever I was typing.

By the way, the "HP support information" application is installed with
Ctrl + Alt + "s" as the shortcut key (because you never know when you
will immediately need to know the serial number?).

I figured that perhaps the keyboard is flaky, but this stops happening
immediately if I change to another account on the system. All the other
keyboard keys, including letters, work normally.

I have undefined the "HP support information" shortcut key, and for now
the problem has disappeared, so perhaps it is fixed.

Or perhaps it will return!

Bob

(I am actually interested in hearing how this might have happened. Yes,
the system has had three different malware scans every day, including
right after this last occurred. Nothing is found.)
