Letters keep randomly inserting themselves

I don't really know how to describe this, but I recently had to reformat my
laptop (Gateway). It has Windows Vista on it and since then, I've had this
problem where when I'm typing my cursor will randomly jump back and insert
itself in words I've already typed. Also, I keep having windows minimize on
me at random. Any suggestions?

Please don't think I am talking down to you, but have you tried turning off
your laptop's touchpad?

I have seen users (including myself) that accidentally brush against the
touchpad with a thumb or the pad of their hand and cause this behavior.

Try typing with the touchpad off and let's see if the behavior is still
there.

This is one reason I HATE those built in touchpads.
