We recently installed MS04-32 (KB840987) on our workstations that have
SMS 2.0 installed. After the install of the patch, frequently we have
been getting error messages that say "Can't run 16-bit Windows program
- Insufficient memory to run this application. Quit one or more
windows applications and then try again". Once this errors pop-ups, it
just keeps on popping up a Zillion times. The only way to stop the
error from popping up is to kill licclint.exe.
This will stop the pop-up from spawning, but there are still tons of
pop-up errors left on the machine. To get rid of all of them, we kill
ntvdm and all errors disappear at once.

MS04-032 makes changes to ntvdm.exe
Licclint.exe uses ntvdm, wowexec

We believe installing MS04-032 caused this problem and when we
uninstalled it, the problem went away.

What is causing licclint to have these 16 bit errors? Anyone else
having this problem?

Thank You

Hi,
I encountered the same problem. With procexp.exe from sysinternals.com I
noticed that ntvdm.exe leaks resources in the context of licclint.exe.
It goes slowly and that's why it takes a while before the annoying
message boxes show up. Uninstalling is probably the only thing you can do.

Cheers,
Bart
