Reinstall the original software AFTER changing either the Windows
Updates settings or the driver update option, Annie.
Open Windows Update in the Control Panel and click the Change settings
link in the left frame.
Choose either " Check for updates but let me choose whether to download
and install them " or " "Download updates but let me chose whether to
install them ".
When you're prompted to install the driver update, UNcheck the box next
to it and then right click on the update. Choose " Hide ". Click OK and
the update will not be offered again.
To change the way Windows updates drivers, open the System applet in
Control Panel. Click the Advanced system settings link in the left frame.
Click the Windows Update Driver Settings button.
Put a mark next to the 2nd or 3rd options.
The second one will prompt you each time a new device is connected to
the system to search for drivers from Windows Update; the 3rd one will
*never* check for drivers when you connect a device.
