You can go to Tools | options | read and check the box to download xxx headers at a time, but that feature is flawed as it doesn't always get the newest messages. So you can here and set it to 50 at a time. Then download the 50. Then go to Edit | Catch up and it will mark all messages in the NG as downloaded. Then go back and uncheck download xxx headers at a time and you will get the newest then that come in after you did the Catch up.
