limited connectivity after updates

I am running Windows XP Pro on a new machine. After successfully using this
PC for the past week through this morning, I am having trouble with my
network/internet connections. This afternoon, 35 Windows updates were
installed, after the reboot, I encountered the RTHDCPL.exe illegal system
relocation error. I also noted that my network connection was not working. I
downloaded the "patch" for the dll error, but I still have the limited or no
connectivity issue. I tried removing all the updates, but the problem
remained. I have tried removing all security settings, various ip fixes,
removing & re-installing devices. I am at a loss of what else to do, but I
know the problem was caused by the updates. Has anyone else experienced this
or knows of a solution. I apologize in advance if this thread has beencovered
at another time.

Do a System Restore to a date/time before the installation of all the
updates. Accessories > System Tools > System restore

I had precisely the same thing happen. After much head scratching, I
called my ISP, and tech support told me that their service was down in
my area while they reset some things. Absolutely no connection
between the updates, and the outage. Murphy was working overtime!

While it is much more likely that there is a connection in your case,
it might be worth a call.
