I have a scanner radio hooked to the computer through my left front panel
Audio-in (microphone) jack, I get audio from the scanner radio and it saves
it to a directory but the audio sounds distorted and over driven, I have
tried to turn down the volume to 50 % but still does not help. I can't seem
to find the control for line-in when I go to control panel / sound, all the
other controls are there but no line - in control so I can turn it up or
down. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

hello steve,

it may seem a little confusing but my Line in is in the Sound control
but in the playback devices not in the recording devices where you might
logically expect it.

if you can't locate the line in you may want to check the recording
devices for your mic control and check if any enhancements are active
such as mic boost
