Last week, I installed several MS Windows Critical Updates. Afterward, I
noticed the hyperlinks within a favorite program have not only stopped
working, but the active window blanks out when I click a link in it. That
program has worked fine for years. I suspect one of the latest MS updates
botched how the hyperlinks work. Which one is the likely culprit?

The Updates I loaded on 12 Dec are: KB926255 for Win XP, KB923694 for
OExpress (which I don't use), KB925398 for WMP 6.4, and KB923689 for XP.
Also, on 7 Dec, I reluctantly installed I.E. 7 (a likely suspect although IE
is generallly "closed.")

Would any of these mess with the operation of hyperlinks? The program in
question is a Bible program with several windows open at once. It uses links
to bring up word definitions in a different window. Instead, when I click on
a word link, the window I'm reading goes totally blank and the action that
should occur does not. Bummer. Any ideas?

Have you tried holding the Ctrl key down when clicking on link?
IE7 has changed MANY operations dealing with Security and hyperlinks are
normally used by a DLL that IE7 probably has modified.

Check your assumption of "totally blank" by using View Source.
