Hello,
I am getting the hebbie-jebbies reading all this dialogue about the
dissatisfied customers of Vista and those reverting back to XP. We recently
purchased a Gateway with Vista pre-installed. It is still sitting here on
the floor waiting to get up and running. However, after reading these
comments, perhaps I should just pack it up and send it back!!
I now know from reading in the discussion group, Vista is not compatible
with Picture It 2002 which is an ultimately important feature that I use
constatly in my business with my XP. Picture It came pre-installed 6 years
ago on my present Gateway with the XP system. I have recently learned that
Vista will probably not be compatible with my printer which is a HP 1315 All
In One.

I am also getting the idea that it is not an easy feat to revert back to XP
when the new computer is already pre-installed with Vista Home Premium and
some deem it a very stupid option. If I decide to do this, can I just use my
disc with the Window XP Operating System that I received upon purchase of my
Gateway 6 years ago??

If not, what would be the best suggestion?

I'm thinking that I should just purchase a computer that still has XP
installed on it.

XP may be a dying system as defined by some in this group, but it has served
me well.

Although it appears that there are some very staunch activists on the side
of Vista, it also seems very clear that it is a very popular opinion that
Microsoft has done its customers a disservice by marketing Vista.

I suppose the old adage 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' seems appropriate!!

Please send any advice my way...many thanks........Sherry

Did you know all these programs were incompatible before you bought the new
Gateway with Vista? You can always buy (maybe from where you bought the GW)
XP the flavor of your choice and wipe out the Vista and install that. I
think its a step backwards but the programs I use run on Vista if AutoCAD
didn't run on it I wouldn't use it either.

Good luck, Rich

Did you have to upgade to Acad2008 for it to work on Vista ?

From what I recollect, any AutoDesk s/w < 2008 may or may not run in Vista,
but was assured any 2008 version would.
