Live and Proxies (or DNS through a server)?

Dear All,

Question, does Windows Live Messenger use the settings that are running on
windows, or does it bypass them?

Sorry if this sounds a silly question, but I've got a program running on a
machine that stops .exe, .rar , etc downloads, and I was wondering if
someone was to send a file via Messenger (I know it stops .exe anyway) would
my programming running catch it (I know you can't answer about my program,
but regarding WLM), or does WLM bypass with its own connection?

Hope this makes sense, and I hope someone can answer my query..

Regards
Paul.

Greetings Paul,

Messenger uses the Windows settings (or more precise, WinInet).

I'm not really clear how your program captures, but Messenger has the ability to send files
directly through the server (through the normal connection that's used for basic text
messaging), so in effect, might be able to "bypass" what you're doing.
